On a DROID Bionic I get 11.315 total time and 1.1315 avg pass time on a restart after letting it run through once.

ACER A500 tablet takes about 12 secs total, 1.2 per pass.
The same benchmark program except adapted to work on RFO BASIC takes 26 secs./2.6

Just ran benchmark on a galaxy s3, and the scores are back up in the 2 second range per pass. Puzzling…

edit: the s3 is new to me. I disabled power saver and uninstalled launcher pro which may have been conflicting with the ics homescreen and the avg pass time dropped to about 1.5 seconds. I'm perplexed…

Hello‼

Testing my Asus TF300:

1) With battery saver active:

Total Time = 15.3477 seg / Average: 1.53477 seg.

2) Normal mode:

Total Time = 10.7962 seg / Average: 1.07962 seg.

Later test my "old" Asus TF101 ;)

Hello, I just loaded Motorcycle Jump02 on my new Shenzen Netbook and it runs a lot slower than on my tablet, I'll have to do some Benchmark tests, Harold.

My ASUS tablet runs 13.49, my Shenzhen Netbook runs 106.48 so I won't be using it when I need speed, Harold.

Basic 5.9 includes a compiler stage that converts Basic source code to efficient iCode. As you can see from the benchmark times below Basic now runs 35-40% faster. Try the benchmark on your devices.

Final benchmark times for Basic 5.9

Original Droid
Basic 5.8 - 3.8 sec
Basic 5.9 - 2.28 sec

Toshiba 10" tablet
Basic 5.8 - 1.5 sec
Basic 5.9 - 0.97 sec

Galaxy S3
Basic 5.8 - 1.4 sec
Basic 5.9 - 0.84 sec

The benchmark originally took about 12 seconds on my ACER A500 running android 3.2.
When I upgraded to android 4.0.3 it took maybe 16 seconds. With 5.9 it takes about 10 seconds.

Is that total time or average pass time? My times were average pass times.

The old interpreter would slow down just a little bit every time I added a command. Executing the new iCode, I could add thousands of commands and it would never slow down execution.

Oh yeah that was totals; for average shift decimal point left one. By the way the Benchmark running on the Blue Stacks emulator on my particular PC had an average of 0.68 .

Just wait till you get 5.10. It completes the compiling upgrade and provides another significant speed boost. It should put you in the .50 - .60 sec range. I believe you were pushing me to add a compiler phase a long time ago. Sometimes it just takes me a long time to figure out how to best implement something.

not necessarily a compiler phase, but to run the program tokenized instead of a text script, which is about the same, just tokenized at runtime instead of during program entry, right? I'm glad your going that direction =)

Well 5.10 has just been released. Here are the final Benchmarks. All results are average pass times.

Original Droid
Basic 5.8 - 3.8 sec
Basic 5.9 - 2.28 sec
Basic 5.10 - 1.32 sec

Toshiba 10" tablet
Basic 5.8 - 1.5 sec
Basic 5.9 - 0.97 sec
Basic 5.10 - 0.53 sec

Galaxy S3
Basic 5.8 - 1.4 sec
Basic 5.9 - 0.84 sec
Basic 5.10 - 0.46 sec

Notice that the original Droid is now running faster than the Galaxy S3 did in 5.8.

What are your benchmark times for 5.10?
