How to Upload/Download Programs
« on: Nov 18, 2010, 01:08 AM »
Uploading Your Programs

1) Mount your phone to your PC.  See: Connecting to your PC

Currently Google has uploads from your phone to the internet disabled. So currently you must mount your phone to your PC in order to upload a Basic program. (you have to complain to Google about this.)

2) From your PC navigate to this forum which is at www.mintoris.com/forum

3) Go to the board (usually Programs and Snipets) where you want to upload your program and start a new topic with the title of your program.

4) Write a short description of your program and include any special instructions.

5) Now for the upload.  Click on the Additional Options… link under your message.  Press Browse and navigate to your Basic Program.  If your phone is mounted you can go right to the Mintoris.Basic folder on your sdcard and upload.

Now click post and you are done.

Please don't post long program listings into the body of your post if you are uploading your program.

Downloading Programs

1) Go to this forum using the browser built into Mintoris Basic.  From the main console screen: Menu Button->Reference->Forum

2) Find a program on this forum that you would like to download and try.

3) Look for the download link.  It will be below the body of the post.  It will be the name of the program. (e.g. MyProgram.bas)

4) Press the download link and the Basic program will be downloaded and installed ready to be run.

5) If the name of the Basic program you are downloading already exists on your phone you will be prompted for a new name or you can overwrite the existing program.

Basic 5.7.1 introduces the ability to upload Basic programs directly from your device. You must have Android 3.0 or higher and you must have the Astro File Manager or similar file manager to select the file to upload.

When posting you can press the Additional Options link below the post box. Then press Browse/Choose File. Next select the Astro File Manager to select the file to upload.

This option has been released on a trial basis and is not expected to work for everyone.

Step 5 implies that the program on the sdcard will have the same name as in the forum. I tried but cannot find it. Where do they go? And how does one access a program with a real name rather than Pn?

All Basic source code files reside on the sdcard under the folder Mintoris.Basic.  When you download a .bas file from the forum it goes into the Mintoris.Basic directory so it is ready to run.  You run a program from the main console screen. Press menu or just touch the screen and you will get a menu. Then select Run and choose the program to run.

The data directory for all Basic programs is Mintoris.Basic/Data.

I use an app called Wifi Explorer which allows you to connect your Android device to your desktop pc browser. It lets you browse your sdcard, upload, download and more all through your Wifi.

Thanks for that very fast response‼ I had not noticed the new entry on the run menu. I use a PC browser too, called MyPhoneExplorer, and have now got it to refresh so it shows my downloaded source file. Sorry for the distraction…

Mike.
